The magnificent 36-foot dragon will emerge from the underworld to prowl the streets of Cork, accompanied by a lively entourage of skeletons, ghouls, and fantastical creatures.
After months of anticipation and preparation in the dragon’s lair beneath Cork's historic streets, organisers are excited to awaken their majestic creation on Friday 31 October at 7pm.
On this magical evening, over 450 participants from 20 community groups will embark on a captivating journey between the realms of the living and the dead to honour the rich traditions of Samhain.
Collaborating with community organisations, such as Cope Foundation, Blackpool Community Access Program, Enable Ireland, Cork Simon, National Learning Network, and many more, this year's event promises a dazzling showcase of stunning floats, imaginative costumes, eye-catching props, and mesmerising performances to breathe life into the beloved dragon.
The parade will feature an ensemble of diverse collaborators, including dancer-in- residence, Kareen Salcede, performances from an impressive line-up of musicians and dance groups, including the Kabin Crew, Craic Mob, The Cork Butter Exchange Band, Tribe Dance Academy, the Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, and the Cork Community Art Link Drama Troupe, with more acts to be announced.
The parade will kick off at Church Street, proceeding down Shandon Street, onto North Main Street, turning left onto Castle Street, before concluding with a grand finale at the Coal Quay.
