It follows the high number of fatalities in the area especially among older pedestrians.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland is to fund a number of interim measures along the Main Street.
An extra pedestrian crossing will be installed and the existing crossings will be raised to allow for greater visibility.
Works on the proposed new measures will begin in January.
Figures show over 15,000 vehicles pass through Charleville every day and almost 1300 of these are heavy goods vehicles.
