Emergency services were alerted to an incident in the Mayfield area shortly before 9am.
An investigation is underway following a fatal house fire in Cork this morning,(Thurs)
Emergency services attended the scene at a house in Barnavarra Crescent.
Regional Fire Control was alerted by a member of the public at 8-43 am and units of the City Fire Service in Ballyvolane and Anglesea Street responded.
It is understood that the body of a woman in her 60's was found in the house.
The body was taken to Corķ University Hospital where a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out.
Gsrdai carried out a technical examination at the scene and their investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
Foul play is not suspected and it is believed the woman's death was accidental.
