
A female with an underlying condition and a male, both in the east of the country, have died from Covid-19.
This brings to nine the number of fatalities from the virus.
235 new confirmed cases were announced this evening.
There are now 1,564 cases of coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, confirmed the figures this evening:
As of midnight on Monday (March 23rd); Dublin had the highest number of cases at 559, (57% of all cases) followed by Cork with 133 cases (11%).
