Two men jailed for conning an elderly West Cork woman

Gardai are appealing to the public to report bogus callers after a woman in her 70s was duped into buying high powered machinery and tools that she did not need.

Brothers,Thomas and Patrick O’Driscoll from Rathkeale in County Limerick pleaded guilty to deception at Goleen in November 2018.

They followed the woman to her home in a remote location and filled her sitting room with chainsaws, power washers, generators and knives.

They made her write out six cheques totalling 25 thousand euro ,two of these worth 6,500 were cashed in.

They were jailed for two years at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

Speaking afterwards, Superintendent Ronan Kennelly made this appeal
