The TUI`s Cork Colleges branch is to engage in industrial action on the week beginning June 13th following a recent ballot. Members have previously staged protests on two occasions in April in opposition to CIT`s management plans to appoint a student counsellor .. The TUI says it`s in breach of a national agreement but the proposed appointment is due to go before the governing body at a meeting today. A ballot of TUI members in Cork last month was passed , with 89% in favour of industrial action.
