The northside of Cork city is one of 19 community areas around the country where the cross-government scheme is being started.
The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has launched Cork's first Slaintecare Healthy Communities Progamme on the northside of the city.
The programme offers the public and health practitioners increased health and wellbeing initiatives to support healthier lifestyles and to empower people to make healthier choices.
The launch took place at Hollyhill Library.
