It was put in place following the detection of evidence of low levels of lyssavirus in an imported sable earlier this year.
Following an investigation, Department of Agriculture officials concluded that the risk has been appropriately managed.
Rabies is a notifiable disease in Ireland – if anyone suspects that an animal is affected by rabies, they are urged to notify the Department immediately, by contacting their local Regional Veterinary Office.
