Emergency services responded to an incident at Barnavarna Crescent, Banduff shortly before 8.30 this morning.(Sat)
On arrival firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to enter the smoke filled house.
Once inside they rescued the pensioner and brought her to safety.
Three units of Cork City Fire Brigade attended the scene.
The blaze which is understood to have started in the kitchen is thought to have been accidental..
