83 admitted patients are waiting for a hospital bed in Cork today.

INMO figures show there are 50 at Cork University Hospital,25 at the Mercy and 8 at Bantry General Hospital.

All three are advising the public of the pressure on services because of the number of very ill patents in need of treatment.

People are being urged to explore alternative care options before presenting at the Emergency Departments.

In Bantry, all visiting is restricted due to increased infection control measures.

654 patients are waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
