An Irish golf fan is among six people injured after being struck by lightening at a tournament in the US.

It happened at the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta yesterday.

A 60-foot pine tree was hit at East Lake just after play had been suspended - shattering the bark from top to bottom.

The injured man's believed to be an Irish passport holder from Northern Ireland.

A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson says it's aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
