Investigations are underway into the cause of a pungent smell in Mallow.
The smell, around the Park Road, has been lingering in the town for many months.
There were concerns that the stench was coming from a waste water treatment plant or the Dairygold factory.
The Environmental Protection Agency confirmed that a site visit took place which identified non compliances at both the waste water treatment plant and the factory.
The EPA has opened a compliance file and has written to Dairygold formally on the issue requesting responses by a specified deadline
