Hospital overcrowding is a huge problem all over the country according to delegates at the INMO conference in Sligo.
The nurses conference will hear that it has been one of the worst years ever for overcrowding in Cork with patients at Cork University Hospital and the Mercy consistently on trolleys day in day out.
There were 85 admitted patients on trolley's in Cork hospitals yesterday with 57 at CUH, 21 at the Mercy and 7 at Bantry General Hospital.
INMO Cork says the Covid pandemic exposed and exacerbated a lot of long standing issues which have contributed to overcrowding in the hospitals.
The first in-person nurses conference since 2019 will discuss 40 motions with overcrowding and the cost of living topping the agenda.
