Analysis undertaken by Nursing Homes Ireland shows that the 47 private and voluntary nursing homes operating in County Cork receive an average Fair Deal fee of €1,002 per resident per week.
In contrast, the 19 HSE nursing homes in the county receive an average fee of €1,501.
Nursing Homes Ireland is calling on the next Government to introduce an independent appeals process to bring fairness on fees.
