According to The Sunday Time's detectives are exploring the possiblity of using child protection laws to grant officers enhanaced authority.

Reports suggest that Gardai have identified three individuals who are believed to possess crucial information regarding the disaappearance of local schoolboy Kyran Durnin.

The 8 year old is considered missing since June 2022 and is presumed deceased.

According to The Sunday Times, Gardai have not yet questioned the three individuals due to insufficient evidence.

In August, 8-year-old Kyran was reported missing along with his mother, Dayla Durnin.

By October, Gardaí escalated Kyran's case to "missing, presumed dead," stating that he may have been missing for as long as two years. Dayla Durnin has since been found in the UK.

Gardaí carried out searches at Emer Terrace in Dundalk, focusing on a former family home of the Durnins and adjacent wasteland.

The search has concluded, but Gardaí have announced they will not disclose the findings for operational reasons.
