
The rescue operation happened yesterday when the crew of the Irish Naval Vessel - Le Eithne - spotted the swimmer in distress.
They launched a standby rescue boat and got to the swimmer just as they were losing strength.
The individual was brought to shore where they were interviewed by Gardaí.
Earlier today the crew of LÉ EITHNE spotted a River Lee swimmer in distress. Executing a well practiced drill, #P31 deployed a standby rescue boat & arrived just as the swimmers strength gave out.
