The crew were called out just before 4pm
Three people on a 20 foot pleasure boat were towed to Courtmacsherry Harbour yesterday after getting into difficulty off the Seven Heads coastline.
The Courtmacsherry Lifeboat crew were called out just before 4pm.
The crew assembled quickly on a busy annual Regatta Day in the village.
They reached the boat at 4.20 pm and with a difficult westerly wind blowing, decided to immediately connect a tow rope.
The Lifeboat crew returned to their mooring at 5.10 pm and as is traditional at the Village Regatta for nearly 100 years, carried out a Lifeboat Display for the huge crowds that were assembled at 6pm.
The Courtmacsherry Lifeboat Crew on board for this callout were Coxswain Ken Cashman, Mechanic Tadgh McCarthy and crewmembers Evin O Sullivan, Simon Locke, Luke Hanley and Niamh Hurley.
For Luke and Niamh, it was their first live callout on the “Val Adnams” after completing their intensive recruitment training over the past 18 months.
