Sinn Fein is calling for a reduction in class sizes in schools around the country.

The party's spokesperson on education is blaming a legacy by successive governments of underinvesting and understaffing in Irish schools and says that this has played it's part in the delay of schools returning.

It is widely known that Ireland has one of the largest teacher pupil ratios in Europe.

Sinn Fein is bringing forward a motion this week, to reduce class sizes and speaking to Cork's 96fm & C103 news Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire says this will help hugely with social distancing in schools.
