Socialist Party TD Mick Barry believes a referendum on a constitutional right to housing should be held in 2023.
Deputy Mick Barry's comments follow reports in the Irish Times that the Housing Commission are expected to make a recommendation to Government on the issue in January.
The TD says a successful referendum on a properly-worded constitutional right to housing would increase the pressure on the State to deliver social and affordable housing.
