Mallow , Buttevant and Charleville will be bypassed.
The preferred transport option to link Cork and Limerick will be revealed this afternoon.
The level of detail involved will go out to public consultation after a preferred transport solution was identified.
It is understood to include active travel infrastructure for walking and cycling, improvement to public transport, new and improved roads and environmental integration for communities along the N20 transport corridor between Cork and Limerick.
It is believed that the motorway route will follow the existing N20 bypassing major towns and urban areas like Mallow,Buttevant and Charleville.
Public representatives have been invited to an online briefing today at which the preferred option will be launched for further public consultation.
It is expected that the final decision on the project will be made by the Government later in the year.
