Bus Eireann are short 35 drivers to provide the current expected level of service in Cork city.
Green Party Cllr Oliver Moran said the company confirmed the figure to him, adding that sixteen drivers are currently training for the city.
The Green Party in Cork have described the recruitment shortage as a disaster.
Cllr Moran has submitted an urgent motion to Cork City Council on the matter seeking that the city writes to the Transport Minister outlining the severe difficulties in recruiting bus drivers in the city.
