An auction will take place in Mitchelstown to help raise funds for the Care for Claire fundraiser.
In March 2025 Claire Downey-Smith, a secondary teacher from Mitchelstown/Kilbehenny received the devastating news of a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease at the age of 41.
The timeline of Claire s disease is completely unknown but the rapid progression of this disease has now rendered her dependant on a wheelchair and rollator.
A fundraiser has been set up on Claire's behalf, in an effort to provide her family with the vital supports they will need to help Claire maintain her independence and dignity, enabling her to spend quality time with her family.
To help in raising money for Claire, an auction will take place in The Yard Bar in Mitchelstown at 7pm on Friday, 9 May.
Auction items include an overnight stay at Cashel Palace, an overnight stay at Dingle Skellig and a Mark Keane signed jersey.
There will also be a number of raffle prizes on the night as well.
