A low of minus 8.8 degrees was recorded in Millstreet on Wednesday night and was one of the coldest places in the country.
Motorists are being advised to slow down on their commute across Thursday into Friday as the cold snap continues.
The Road Safety Authority is reminding drivers to take extra care and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
